From Silicon Valley to State Contracts: What Tesla, Uber, Kroger & Government Work Taught Me

Jun 9, 2025 | Blog

Before founding Curatola Masonry and growing it into a recognized leader in masonry and preservation across Ohio, I had the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure projects for some of the most demanding and forward-thinking organizations in the world—Tesla, Uber, Kroger, and multiple government agencies.

These weren’t just jobs—they were turning points. Each experience shaped my professional standards, technical knowledge, and approach to building teams that could perform under pressure, think critically, and deliver without compromise.

🛠 What Working with Industry Giants and Government Agencies Taught Me

1. Precision is Non-Negotiable

With Tesla, expectations weren’t high—they were exact. Tolerances were tight, schedules were tighter, and results had to be consistent across sites. That mindset of repeatable precision now defines how I lead crews at every Curatola jobsite.

2. Public Projects Demand Accountability

From local municipalities to federal contracts, government work added another layer of compliance, documentation, and quality control. You’re not just building—you’re representing standards, policy, and public trust. Those lessons stick with me in every contract we pursue today.

3. Logistics + Craftsmanship = True Delivery

At Kroger distribution centers and Uber facilities, I saw firsthand how good work meant integration—not just building, but coordinating with electricians, automation teams, and systems integrators under one timeline. It trained me to think like a builder and a manager simultaneously.

🔄 From Corporations & Contracts to Preservation & Community

While I’m grateful for the years of national and government-level experience, I’m just as proud of what we do today: preserving a historic school, rebuilding a church’s foundation, or restoring a 1920s chimney in full compliance with local landmark commissions.

That same drive, professionalism, and respect for the craft now powers Curatola Masonry & Preservation.

🙏 Looking Back, Building Forward

Working with Tesla, Uber, Kroger, and government agencies taught me that great work transcends the client name—it comes down to standards, execution, and accountability. Whether we’re restoring limestone on a 100-year-old building or managing a multi-phase commercial concrete job, the mission is the same:

Do it right. Do it once. Build with pride.
